Standard dimensions and specifications
According to the official standards of the International Padel Federation (FIP), a standard doubles padel court measures 20 meters long and 10 meters wide, for a total area of approximately 200 square meters. The court is rectangular, divided into two halves by a net. Each half of the court measuring 10 meters by 10 meters. The center height of the court is 0.88 meters, rising to 0.92 meters at the both end of upright support to ensure the fairness and reasonableness of the ball trajectory during the game.
Court boundary and sidewall structure
The most distinctive feature of a padel court is its enclosed design. 4-meter-high back walls are placed at both end, typically composed of a 3-meter glass or concrete wall and a 1-meter metal mesh. This ensures both ball speed and safety.
The side walls feature a stepped structure: 3 meters high within a 2-meter range near the back wall, gradually descending to 2 meters, connected to the outer side by a 4-meter-high metal mesh. The structure creates a completely enclosed space. This design allows the ball to continue playing even after hitting the wall, greatly enriching tactical variations and the overall visual experience.
Space layout and safety regulations
In addition to the official playing area, a safe space of at least 2 meters must be reserved around the court to allow players to run and saving the ball. Entrance doors should be at least 1.05 meters by 2 meters to ensure smooth passage for players and equipment.
In the design of indoor padel courts, the ceiling height must be at least 6 meters to prevent the ball from touching the top. Lighting fixtures should also be installed at a height of at least 6 meters to ensure uniform lighting and avoid glare.
